Can Engineering For Kids designate virtual programs as optional?

Engineering_For_Kids Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Without limiting the information above that applies generally to the Programs, we have developed virtual programs as an additional method of conducting business that may be offered from time to time as we authorize. The virtual programs are not intended to be permanent replacement for in-person Programs and Engineering for Kids Businesses must resume offering in-person Programs as we require. We have the right to discontinue any or all virtual programs. We may designate some or all virtual programs as Core Programs or to make them optional.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Engineering For Kids' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Engineering For Kids has the authority to designate virtual programs as either core programs or optional programs. This means that Engineering For Kids can decide whether franchisees are required to offer virtual programs or if they can choose to offer them at their discretion. Engineering For Kids also has the right to discontinue any or all virtual programs.

This flexibility allows Engineering For Kids to adapt to changing market conditions and franchisee needs. For a prospective franchisee, this means that while virtual programs may be available, they might not be a permanent fixture of the business model and could be subject to change at the discretion of Engineering For Kids. It is important to note that Engineering For Kids businesses must resume offering in-person Programs as Engineering For Kids requires.

Engineering For Kids' control over program offerings extends to in-person programs as well. The FDD states that Engineering For Kids has the right to change authorized programs and services, designating specific programs or services as optional or mandatory. This comprehensive control over program offerings allows Engineering For Kids to maintain brand consistency and quality across all franchise locations, but it also means that franchisees must be prepared to adapt their service offerings based on Engineering For Kids' decisions.
