What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Engineering For Kids' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, an 'Authorized Center Location' is a site that Engineering For Kids has approved for a franchisee to use after the franchisee obtains the right to use the location. The franchisee is responsible for identifying and securing a location within 60 days of signing the Franchise Agreement, referred to as the 'Search Period'.
The prospective location must meet Engineering For Kids' minimum standards for EFK Center Locations. The franchisee must notify Engineering For Kids of the proposed site and submit a site review report, including photographs and demographic information. Engineering For Kids will then approve or reject the proposed site in writing within 30 days of receiving the information. If the initial site is disapproved, the franchisee can submit another proposal.
Once Engineering For Kids approves a site and the franchisee secures the right to use it, that location becomes the 'Authorized Center Location'. The franchisee is then responsible for preparing the location for business at their own expense, including construction, remodeling, furnishing, and decorating, all according to Engineering For Kids' requirements. Failure to secure an approved site within the Search Period may result in default under the Franchise Agreement and potential termination of the agreement.
