What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Engel & Volkers's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the yachting brokerage franchise program was temporarily stopped as of December 31, 2014. However, the document states that Engel & Volkers resumed offering yachting brokerage franchises in the United States as of October 2019. At that time, Engel & Volkers offered franchise agreements for yachting brokerages only in a few states, including New York, California, and Florida, under a separate FDD.
This information is relevant for prospective franchisees interested in the Engel & Volkers yachting program, as it shows the program's history of being temporarily discontinued and then restarted. It also highlights that the yachting franchise is offered under a separate FDD, which may contain different terms and conditions than the residential real estate franchise.
Furthermore, the fact that the yachting franchise is only offered in a limited number of states suggests that the market for yachting brokerages may be more limited or that Engel & Volkers is taking a cautious approach to expanding this segment of their business. Prospective franchisees should carefully review the separate FDD for the yachting program and consider the specific market conditions in their desired location before investing in this franchise.
