What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Engel & Volkers's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, attendance at training courses is generally mandatory. Specifically, the FDD states, "Attendance at these courses is mandatory." This requirement is further emphasized by the stipulation that individual franchisees, principals, or brokerage managers (if the franchisee or principals are not active in residential real estate) must attend the applicable training course. Sales Advisors and staff members supporting Sales Advisors must attend Engel & Volkers Engage, and at least one staff member supporting Sales Advisors must attend SPT training.
Engel & Volkers also reserves the right to make additional, ongoing, and supplemental training sessions mandatory for franchisees, sales advisors, or employees. The frequency of these additional training sessions depends on the franchisee's specific circumstances. Franchisees are responsible for covering the costs associated with attending these training courses, including travel, accommodation, out-of-pocket expenses, and salaries for their employees and sales advisors.
Prospective Engel & Volkers franchisees should be aware of these mandatory training requirements and factor in the associated costs when evaluating the franchise opportunity. While the initial franchise fee covers training for one person to attend and complete LPT, additional attendees will incur further fees. Understanding the full scope of required training and the related financial obligations is crucial for successful franchise operations.
