What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Embassy Suites By Hilton Franchise Disclosure Document, the Disclosure Document is a key component of the franchise application process. As part of the application, potential franchisees must access the current Franchise Disclosure Document through the E-Disclosure procedure and complete it by clicking "Submit" on the Electronic Receipt page. If the applicant receives a paper version of the Disclosure Document, they must sign and date the "Receipt" page at the end of the document and return it by mail to their development representative. This confirms that the applicant has received and, presumably, reviewed the document. A signed Disclosure Document Receipt, or its electronic submission, is listed as a required item in the application checklist.
Embassy Suites By Hilton requires that the franchise application fee not be submitted until at least the day after the 14th full calendar day following the applicant's receipt of the Disclosure Document, whether in paper form or through the E-Disclosure procedure. For example, if an applicant receives the Disclosure Document on January 1st, the earliest they may pay the Franchise Application Fee is January 16th. This waiting period is mandated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and various state franchise laws to ensure that prospective franchisees have sufficient time to review the Disclosure Document and seek professional advice before making any financial commitment.
The Disclosure Document provides crucial information about the Embassy Suites By Hilton franchise system, including the franchisor's background, financial performance, fees, obligations, and other details necessary for making an informed investment decision. By requiring applicants to acknowledge receipt of the Disclosure Document and wait a specified period before paying the application fee, Embassy Suites By Hilton aims to ensure that potential franchisees have access to and time to consider all relevant information before moving forward with the application process. This practice aligns with standard franchise industry regulations and ethical considerations.
