- For a New Development, you must start construction within 16 months after the date we approve your Application. For a Conversion, Re-Licensing, Change of Ownership, or room addition project, you must start the renovation work by the date we have agreed to in the Franchise Agreement or PIP, which is set on a project-by-project basis. For all projects (including New Development, Conversion, Re-Licensing, Change of Ownership, or room addition project), you must complete the construction or renovation work by the date we have agreed to in the Franchise Agreement or PIP, which is set on a project-by-project basis. before that date occurs. If we approve your request, you must pay the extension fee and we will set new project start and completion dates accordingly.
However, in New Development or Conversion projects the start date and completion date will be extended by 30 days on a rolling basis automatically without a fee unless we provide at least 60 days' notice to you that these automatic extensions will end. At that point, if you wish to request any further extension, you must submit a written request before the relevant date occurs. If we approve your request, you must pay the extension fee and we will set new project start and completion dates accordingly. These automatic extensions will not apply to any Relicensing, Change of Ownership, or room addition projects.

According to Embassy Suites's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the process for requesting an extension of the start date depends on the type of project. For a New Development, franchisees must start construction within 16 months after the application is approved. For Conversions, Re-Licensing, Change of Ownership, or room addition projects, renovation work must begin by the date agreed upon in the Franchise Agreement or Property Improvement Plan (PIP), which is determined on a project-by-project basis.
For all project types, including New Development, Conversion, Re-Licensing, Change of Ownership, or room addition projects, franchisees must complete construction or renovation by the date specified in the Franchise Agreement or PIP, also set on a project-by-project basis. To request an extension of any start or completion date, a franchisee must submit a written request before the existing deadline. If Embassy Suites approves the request, the franchisee must pay an extension fee, and new project start and completion dates will be established.
However, New Development or Conversion projects receive an automatic 30-day extension on both the start and completion dates, which rolls over continuously unless Embassy Suites provides at least 60 days' notice that these automatic extensions will cease. After such notice, any further extension requests must be submitted in writing before the relevant date, and if approved, are subject to an extension fee.
