What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Embassy Suites Franchise Disclosure Document, HSS (Hilton Supply Management) or the Preferred Provider is not obligated to repair or replace certain components. Specifically, their obligations do not extend to cables, cords, or any expendable or consumable components. These include items such as ribbons, paper, toner cartridges, print wheels, drums, batteries, and diskettes, regardless of whether these items are defined as Authorized Equipment.

This means that as an Embassy Suites franchisee, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and replacement costs of these consumable items. This responsibility extends to ensuring you have sufficient staff trained to manage the Information System and maintain backup copies of software and data. Failure to maintain these copies could result in the franchisee bearing the costs of reconstructing any lost or impaired data.

This allocation of responsibility is fairly standard in franchising, where franchisees typically handle the day-to-day maintenance and expendable items, while the franchisor or designated provider focuses on more substantial equipment and system maintenance. Therefore, prospective Embassy Suites franchisees should factor in these ongoing expenses when budgeting for their franchise operations.
