Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We may specify certain required and optional training programs and provide these programs at various locations. We may charge you for required training services and materials and for optional training services and materials we provide to you. You are responsible for selecting the personnel to attend such training programs. You are also responsible for all travel, lodging and other expenses you or your employees (or your Management Company's personnel) incur in connection with attending these programs.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Embassy Suites' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Embassy Suites may charge franchisees for both required and optional training programs, including the services and materials provided. The franchisee is responsible for selecting the personnel who will attend these training programs. Additionally, the franchisee must cover all travel, lodging, and other expenses incurred by themselves or their employees (or their Management Company's personnel) when attending these programs.

This means that franchisees should budget not only for the direct costs of the training programs themselves, but also for the indirect costs associated with sending personnel to the training. These indirect costs can include transportation, accommodation, meals, and wages for the employees while they are away from the hotel for training.

This policy is fairly standard in the franchise industry, as franchisors often provide training to ensure consistency and quality across all franchise locations. However, the specific costs and responsibilities can vary, so it's important for prospective Embassy Suites franchisees to carefully review the training requirements and associated expenses outlined in the Franchise Agreement.
