What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Ella Cafe's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are generally required to purchase goods and services from Ella Cafe's designated suppliers. These designated suppliers are pre-approved by Ella Cafe to ensure that all franchisees maintain consistent quality and standards.

The FDD specifies a comprehensive list of items that must be purchased from these designated suppliers. This list includes fixtures, furniture, equipment, interior and exterior signage, decor, trade dress, coffee house design consulting services, food products and ingredients (even those with special recipes), fountain and bottled beverages, uniforms, retail merchandise, advertising materials, gift certificates, stationery, business cards, branded bags and packaging, and any other goods or services that Ella Cafe may require.

This requirement ensures uniformity across all Ella Cafe locations, helping to maintain brand consistency and quality control. While it limits the franchisee's autonomy in sourcing products, it also streamlines the supply chain and potentially offers cost benefits through negotiated bulk purchasing agreements that Ella Cafe establishes with its designated suppliers. Franchisees should inquire about the process for suggesting new suppliers or requesting exceptions to this rule, as well as the criteria used to evaluate potential suppliers.
