What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Ella Cafe's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Ella Cafe has no obligation to reimburse franchisees for any computer system costs. The franchisee is responsible for incurring the costs of obtaining the computer hardware and software, including any additions or modifications, as well as the required service or support. This includes the acquisition, operation, maintenance, updates, and upgrading of the computer system to comply with Ella Cafe's standards.
Furthermore, the franchisee is solely responsible for how their computer system interfaces with Ella Cafe's system and those of third parties. They are also responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of the computer system, even though Ella Cafe may recommend third parties to provide these functions. The franchisee bears all consequences if the computer system is not properly operated, maintained, and upgraded, including issues like viruses and spyware.
This means that as an Ella Cafe franchisee, you must be prepared to cover all expenses related to the computer system necessary for operating your franchise. This includes initial purchase, any upgrades or modifications, ongoing maintenance, and ensuring the system's security and compliance with all applicable laws and standards. This is a standard practice in franchising, where franchisees typically bear the costs of technology and equipment required to run their business according to the franchisor's standards.
