When the retail site is selected and approved by us, we will mutually agree on an "Opening Date" for your Coffee House, but the Opening Date must be no later than 365 days from the Effective Date of your Franchise Agreement.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Ella Cafe's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the latest possible 'Opening Date' for a new franchise is 365 days from the Effective Date of the Franchise Agreement. This applies to 'Start Up Franchise' locations. The FDD states that Ella Cafe and the franchisee will mutually agree on the specific 'Opening Date' once the retail site is approved.
However, franchisees need to be aware that failing to open by the agreed-upon 'Opening Date' can lead to termination of the Franchise Agreement by Ella Cafe. To avoid this, franchisees can request an extension in writing at least 60 days before the 'Opening Date'. The granting of an extension is at Ella Cafe's sole discretion. If the franchisee does not open on time and does not receive an extension, Ella Cafe can terminate the agreement without refunding any fees paid.
For franchisees converting an existing business to an Ella Cafe franchise, the timeframe to open is much shorter, estimated at 30 to 60 days after signing the Franchise Agreement.
