What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Ella Cafe's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to obtain a license for any music played at their approved location. The franchisee must also be able to provide evidence of this license upon request by Ella Cafe.

This requirement ensures that Ella Cafe franchisees comply with copyright laws and protect themselves from potential legal issues related to unauthorized music usage. It is a standard practice in the restaurant and cafe industry to secure appropriate licenses from music licensing organizations like ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC to legally play copyrighted music in their establishments.

Prospective Ella Cafe franchisees should factor in the cost of obtaining and maintaining these music licenses as part of their ongoing operating expenses. The specific cost will vary depending on the size of the location, the type of music played, and the licensing terms negotiated with the music licensing organizations. It is advisable for franchisees to consult with legal counsel or music licensing experts to ensure they obtain the correct licenses and remain compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
