What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Ella Cafe's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, for each potential location, a franchisee must provide the franchisor with a description of the site in a format specified by Ella Cafe. The franchisee must also provide evidence that the site meets Ella Cafe's site selection guidelines. Additionally, the franchisee must supply any other information and materials that Ella Cafe may reasonably require. This includes copies of a proposed lease or a contract of sale for the site.
This requirement ensures that Ella Cafe maintains control over the locations of its franchises, helping to protect brand consistency and customer experience. By requiring specific documentation and information, Ella Cafe can assess whether a proposed site is likely to be successful and aligns with the overall brand strategy.
The franchisee bears the responsibility of gathering and submitting all required documentation, which may involve legal and real estate expertise. If Ella Cafe requires additional site evaluation reports beyond the initial one, the franchisee is responsible for covering those costs. Franchisees should carefully review Ella Cafe's site selection guidelines and understand the full scope of required submissions to avoid delays or disapproval of their proposed location.
