What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Ella Cafe's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the development fee is tied to the initial franchise fee. Specifically, the development fee is equivalent to 100% of the initial franchise fee for the first Ella Cafe location to be developed, in addition to a reduced initial franchise fee for each subsequent location developed under the agreement.

When a franchisee signs a Franchise Agreement for a location, Ella Cafe will credit the amount already paid towards the initial franchise fee due. This means the development fee essentially acts as a deposit towards the initial franchise fees for the coffee houses the developer commits to opening.

It is important to note that the development fee is fully earned by Ella Cafe upon payment and is non-refundable under any circumstances. This is a common practice in franchising, as the fee compensates the franchisor for granting the development rights and foregoing other potential franchisees in the territory.
