What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Dryer Vent Squad's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a Managing Owner, whether it's the franchisee or a designated manager, has specific training and licensing obligations. The Managing Owner must be actively involved in the daily operations and supervision of the Dryer Vent Squad business. They must also successfully complete the initial training program provided by Dryer Vent Squad. This training is essential to ensure they understand and can implement the Dryer Vent Squad's operational standards and procedures. The initial training program takes place over a three-day period at the training facility in Lakewood, New Jersey.
In addition to completing the training program, the Managing Owner is required to obtain all necessary licenses and permits to legally operate a Dryer Vent Squad business within their designated territory. These licenses and permits can vary depending on local, municipal, county, and state regulations. It is the franchisee's responsibility to identify and secure these required licenses and authorizations. Dryer Vent Squad emphasizes the importance of consulting with government agencies, architects, and legal professionals to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
If a franchisee is a corporate entity and the Managing Owner dies or becomes permanently disabled, a new Managing Owner must be appointed within 30 days and complete the training program within 60 days of appointment. This ensures the Dryer Vent Squad business continues to operate under approved management. Failure to have an approved Managing Owner may result in Dryer Vent Squad appointing a manager at the franchisee's expense until a suitable replacement is found. The franchisee is responsible for all costs associated with obtaining the necessary licenses and permits.
