What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Dryer Vent Squad's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the term 'Revenue' for the purpose of financial reporting by franchisees has a specific definition with certain exclusions. Revenue includes the total dollar amount of all sales generated through the Dryer Vent Squad business, covering payments for services or products sold, whether in cash, credit, in-kind services, or through barter/exchange. This encompasses all forms of payment received for services rendered or products sold by the franchise.

However, the definition of 'Revenue' for a Dryer Vent Squad franchise specifically excludes several items. These exclusions are (i) bona fide refunds to customers, (ii) sales tax collected, (iii) sales of used equipment not in the ordinary course of business, and (iv) sales of prepaid cards or similar products. It is important to note that while the sale of prepaid cards is excluded from revenue, the redemption of these cards for services or products is included as revenue.

For a prospective Dryer Vent Squad franchisee, understanding this definition is crucial for accurate financial reporting and performance assessment. By excluding items like sales tax and refunds, the revenue figures provide a clearer picture of the actual income generated from the core services of dryer vent cleaning and related offerings. This distinction helps in evaluating the true financial performance of the franchise and making informed business decisions.
