What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Dryer Vent Squad's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Dryer Vent Squad retains the right to both institute and expand rebate programs in the future. This means that Dryer Vent Squad can create new rebate programs or broaden the scope of existing ones at its discretion. As of December 31, 2021, Dryer Vent Squad had not received any revenue from suppliers related to franchisee purchases of source-restricted products or services.
For a prospective franchisee, this clause has several implications. First, it suggests that Dryer Vent Squad may, in the future, receive financial benefits from suppliers based on franchisee purchases. While the FDD states that as of the end of 2021, Dryer Vent Squad had not received such revenue, the reservation of the right to institute and expand rebate programs indicates a potential future revenue stream for the franchisor.
Second, the institution or expansion of rebate programs could influence the suppliers that Dryer Vent Squad designates or approves. If Dryer Vent Squad receives rebates from certain suppliers, it may be more inclined to designate those suppliers, potentially impacting the franchisee's purchasing options and costs. Franchisees should inquire about the criteria Dryer Vent Squad uses for selecting and approving suppliers and how rebate programs might affect these decisions. Understanding these factors can help a franchisee anticipate potential changes in supply sources and associated costs over the term of the franchise agreement.
