What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Dryer Vent Squad's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not required to secure a commercial office location, as the business can be managed administratively from home, if permitted by local law. However, if a franchisee elects to establish an operations center or a back-end administrative office for purposes such as inventory, staging service visits, or parking a service vehicle, they are responsible for selecting and securing a site within their operating territory.
The franchisor must approve the location of any administrative office or operations center. Dryer Vent Squad will consider factors such as the characteristics of the proposed site, whether it meets the criteria for non-retail back-office operations, and its location relative to the franchisee's operating territory and proximity to other franchisee territories. The franchisee is responsible for all costs associated with locating and evaluating potential sites.
If the franchisor does not approve a franchisee's site selection, the Franchise Agreement may be terminated without any refund of fees. It is the franchisee's responsibility to ensure that the site complies with all applicable laws and regulations and that they possess the necessary licenses and authority to operate the franchised business from that location. This flexibility allows franchisees to minimize initial overhead costs by operating from home, but it also provides the option to scale up with a dedicated office or operations center as the business grows.
