What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Dryer Vent Squad's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must purchase system supplies, as designated by the franchisor, from Dryer Vent Squad, its affiliates, and/or its designated suppliers. This requirement ensures that franchisees maintain an initial and ongoing inventory of necessary supplies to operate the business according to Dryer Vent Squad's standards.
Dryer Vent Squad also mandates that all materials bearing the licensed marks, including stationary, business cards, brochures, apparel, signs, and displays, must meet the franchisor's standards and specifications. These branded items must be purchased directly from Dryer Vent Squad or its designated suppliers. Similarly, all marketing materials must comply with Dryer Vent Squad's standards, be approved before use, and be purchased from Dryer Vent Squad or its designated exclusive supplier. Dryer Vent Squad retains the right to require franchisees to exclusively use their designated supplier for social and digital media marketing services and platforms, at the franchisee's cost.
If a franchisee wishes to purchase or lease a source-restricted item from a supplier not already approved by Dryer Vent Squad, they must submit a written request for approval, along with any additional information requested by the franchisor. Dryer Vent Squad may charge a supplier review and testing fee and may request samples for testing and documentation for evaluation. The franchisor may also inspect the supplier's facilities. Dryer Vent Squad will notify the franchisee of their approval or disapproval within a reasonable time, not exceeding 60 days, after receiving the request and all required information. Approval may be withheld at Dryer Vent Squad's discretion.
The FDD estimates that purchases from designated or exclusive suppliers will constitute approximately 75% of the franchisee's total initial purchases and leases and about 40% of ongoing operating expenses. While Dryer Vent Squad states that neither they nor their affiliates are currently approved suppliers of source-restricted goods and services, this policy allows them to control quality and branding consistency across all franchise locations, which is a common practice in franchising. Prospective franchisees should be aware of these requirements and factor these costs into their financial projections.
