What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to the 2024 Dryer Vent Squad Franchise Disclosure Document, if an Open Area transitions into an Assigned Area, a franchisee must stop communicating with customers they previously serviced in that Open Area. Furthermore, the franchisee is required to turn over all information and records related to the approved services and products they provided within that Open Area to Dryer Vent Squad, or to another Dryer Vent Squad Business, for their benefit.

This stipulation ensures that Dryer Vent Squad maintains control over its territories and customer relationships, even in areas that were initially open for any franchisee to service. By requiring the transfer of customer data, Dryer Vent Squad can ensure a smooth transition for the new franchisee assigned to that area and maintain consistent service for customers.

For a prospective franchisee, this means that while they may have the opportunity to service customers in Open Areas, they should be aware that this right is not permanent. If that area becomes assigned to another franchisee, they will lose those customers and must transfer all related information. This highlights the importance of focusing on building a strong customer base within the franchisee's designated Operating Territory, as those relationships are more secure. It also underscores the need to maintain accurate records of services provided in Open Areas, as these will need to be turned over if the area is assigned.
