What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Dryer Vent Squad's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Brand Development Fund can be used for upgrades to the System Website. The document states that the franchisor may use the fund for activities related to brand awareness goals, including expenses for advertising, marketing, product and service testing and development, maintenance, evaluation and monitoring of the Business Management Systems, upgrades to the System Website, and development of Digital Media. These activities can be administered internally or prepared by the franchisor.
However, the franchisor cannot use the Brand Development Fund to cover general operating expenses, except for reasonable salaries, administrative costs, and overhead related to the fund's administration and marketing programs. This includes conducting market research, preparing advertising and marketing materials, and managing contributions to the fund. The franchisor has the discretion to spend more or less than the total contributions to the fund in any given fiscal year.
This means that Dryer Vent Squad franchisees contribute to a fund that can be used to improve the System Website, which could benefit their business through enhanced online presence and customer engagement. However, franchisees should be aware that the franchisor has broad discretion over how the fund is spent, and there is no guarantee that expenditures will directly benefit all franchisees or be proportionate to their contributions.
