If a Dq Treat franchisee's Designated Location does not currently have terminals, what is required for Card Transactions?

Dq_Treat Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Each Operated Location's, Participating Franchisee's and Sub-Franchisee's Designated Locations must use a terminal certified to GIFT's specifications (the "Terminal") for Card Transactions.

In the event an Operated Locations, Participating Franchisee or Sub-Franchisee does not currently own, rent or lease the Terminals, it will need to acquire Terminals in accordance with the pricing indicated on Addendum #1, attached hereto.

Should an Operated Location's, Participating Franchisee's or Sub-Franchisee's Designated Location currently operate one or more point of sale terminals that support Card Transactions and are certified to GIFT's specifications and Client's Program Procedures, such Designated Location may use such certified terminals for Card Transactions.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Dq Treat FDD, if a franchisee's Designated Location does not currently have terminals for card transactions, they will need to acquire terminals that are certified to GIFT's specifications. These terminals are essential for processing card transactions within the Dq Treat system. The pricing for acquiring these terminals is detailed in Addendum #1 of the Franchise Disclosure Document.

However, if a Designated Location already operates point-of-sale terminals that support card transactions and are certified to GIFT's specifications and Client's Program Procedures, the franchisee may use these existing certified terminals for card transactions. This provides some flexibility for franchisees who already have compatible systems in place.

In addition to acquiring the necessary terminals, Dq Treat franchisees are responsible for maintaining all POS devices, telecommunications facilities, and other equipment required to electronically transmit card transaction data from their Designated Locations to GIFT. They are also responsible for any necessary development, programming, or modifications to the card authorization equipment to ensure access to services and service modifications. This includes requesting authorization in advance of each transaction and actively promoting the program.
