What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Dq Treat's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the construction consultation services fee is due prior to the consultation. The amount ranges from $0 to $5,000 for a Captive-Venue Location and $0 to $7,500 for a Street Location.
Dq Treat requires franchisees to consult with and be assisted by them on all preopening construction and equipment installation for the franchised premises. Franchisees must also sign the construction consultation services agreement included in the disclosure document. However, Dq Treat will not provide this service if the franchisee does not retain the services of a general contractor licensed to work in the city and state in which the project is located.
Notably, Dq Treat will not charge the construction consultation services fee if the franchisee pays the full initial franchise fee. However, this fee is required if the franchisee pays a reduced or no initial franchise fee, such as in the case of a conversion franchisee or if they relocate their store under the relocation policy. Franchisees are responsible for additional costs due to delays or complications beyond Dq Treat's control, and for any deviations or escalations in leasehold improvements or construction costs, including additional costs to comply with federal, state, or local requirements.
