Answer from 2025 FDD Document

  • "Dog Haus Remote Kitchen" (also known as a delivery-only restaurant or an online-only restaurant) means a food service business used for the production of delivery and take-away food products located in a partially equipped commercial kitchen within a multi-kitchen facility with other restauranteurs that only serves customers through online food ordering through a third-party Food Delivery Service, usually on a computer application or through a website that is downloaded by the customer to a mobile device.

Customers may place their orders for food products online with the Food Delivery Service they choose for the food they want delivered.

The Food Delivery Service then transmits the order to the Remote Kitchen for preparation, picks up the order at the Remote Kitchen facility and delivers the food to the customer for a fee established by the Food Delivery Service.

Alternatively, customers may place their orders directly with the Remote Kitchen and pick up their order at the Remote Kitchen facility.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Dog Haus's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a 'Dog Haus Remote Kitchen,' also known as a delivery-only or online-only restaurant, is a food service business focused on producing food for delivery and take-away. These kitchens are situated within partially equipped commercial spaces, often in multi-kitchen facilities shared with other restaurants. The primary function of a Remote Kitchen is to serve customers who order food online through third-party food delivery services, typically via mobile applications or websites.

In terms of operation, customers place orders online through their chosen food delivery service. The food delivery service then forwards the order to the Dog Haus Remote Kitchen for preparation. Once the order is ready, the delivery service picks it up from the Remote Kitchen facility and delivers it to the customer. The delivery service charges a fee for this service. Alternatively, customers have the option to place orders directly with the Remote Kitchen and pick up the food themselves at the facility.

This model allows Dog Haus to expand its reach without the overhead costs associated with traditional brick-and-mortar restaurants. Franchisees operating a Remote Kitchen pay a royalty fee equal to four percent (4%) of the Gross Sales of the Remote Kitchen during the immediately preceding week. The franchisee may only accept and fulfill orders from Food Delivery Service customers in its Protected Area, unless Dog Haus agrees otherwise in writing. The franchisee must advise all Food Delivery Services of these delivery restrictions imposed on Franchisee.
