What is the process for opening a Dog Haus Franchised Restaurant under the Area Development Agreement?
Dog_Haus Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
When you sign each Franchise Agreement under an Area Development Agreement, you must locate sites for your Dog Haus Restaurants. We must approve the site and our then-current standards for Dog Haus Restaurant sites will apply. After you have located a site, you must submit it to us for our review and request us to consider and approve the site. Following receipt of our acceptance of a site, you must negotiate a lease or purchase agreement for the site and submit a copy to us. (Area Development Agreement, Section 5.2). We will then give you execution copies of our then-current Franchise Agreement for the proposed location. You must return the signed Franchise Agreement to us within 30 days after you receive the execution copies of the Franchise Agreement. (Area Development Agreement, Section 5.2). You may not enter into any Lease for a site unless and until we have approved the site and the Lease in writing. (Area Development Agreement, Section 5.2).

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Dog Haus's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees who sign an Area Development Agreement must follow a specific process for opening each Dog Haus restaurant. First, the franchisee must locate potential sites for their Dog Haus restaurants, and these sites must meet Dog Haus's current standards. The franchisee then submits the site to Dog Haus for review and approval.
Once Dog Haus accepts a site, the franchisee negotiates a lease or purchase agreement and submits a copy to Dog Haus. Dog Haus will then provide the franchisee with execution copies of the current Franchise Agreement for the proposed location. The franchisee must return the signed Franchise Agreement within 30 days of receiving the execution copies.
The FDD states that franchisees cannot enter into any lease for a site until Dog Haus has approved both the site and the lease in writing. This process ensures that all locations meet Dog Haus's standards and that the terms of the lease are acceptable to the franchisor, protecting the brand's consistency and reputation.
