What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Dog Haus's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to cooperate with Dog Haus in the test marketing of products and services at their franchised restaurant. This cooperation includes complying with all rules and regulations that Dog Haus establishes regarding the test marketing. This obligation is part of the broader requirement that franchisees adhere to the standards and specifications set by Dog Haus and operate their restaurants in conformity with the methods prescribed by Dog Haus.
This means that if Dog Haus decides to test a new menu item, service, or marketing approach, the franchisee must actively participate in the test at their location. This could involve implementing new procedures, training staff on new products, adjusting marketing strategies, and providing feedback to Dog Haus on the effectiveness of the test. The franchisee does not have the option to refuse participation in these test marketing programs.
The FDD emphasizes the importance of franchisees maintaining adequate reserves and working capital to fulfill all obligations under the franchise agreement. This would include the financial capacity to implement changes and potentially invest in new equipment or marketing materials required for test marketing initiatives. Franchisees are also obligated to make alterations or modifications to their restaurants to accommodate changes to the Dog Haus system, including menu items or market positioning, within a specified timeframe after receiving notice from Dog Haus.
Overall, the test marketing obligation ensures that Dog Haus can innovate and improve its system with the active participation of its franchisees. It also highlights the need for franchisees to be flexible and adaptable to changes directed by Dog Haus, and to maintain sufficient financial resources to support these changes.
