What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Devon Creek's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, remedial in-territory training and assistance is provided under specific circumstances. Devon Creek will provide this training and assistance upon a franchisee's request or if Devon Creek determines it to be appropriate. However, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing Devon Creek for all costs associated with the trainer's services. These costs include the trainer's per diem fee, as well as all travel-related expenses such as transportation, meals, and lodging.

This arrangement means that while Devon Creek offers ongoing support, the franchisee must be prepared to cover the expenses incurred for on-site training. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, where the franchisor provides expertise but the franchisee bears the direct costs of that service. It is important for prospective franchisees to factor these potential costs into their financial planning.

Franchisees should inquire about the typical per diem rates and travel expenses associated with remedial training to better understand the potential financial commitment. Understanding these costs upfront will help franchisees budget effectively and avoid unexpected expenses. It is also advisable to clarify the criteria Devon Creek uses to determine when remedial training is "appropriate," ensuring a clear understanding of when such support might be offered proactively by the franchisor.
