What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Devon Creek Franchise Disclosure Document, Devon Creek determines, in its sole discretion, whether a franchisee has satisfactorily completed the initial training program. This determination is made after the franchisee and at least one additional person participate in a four-week pre-opening training program. Onsite training is also provided upon the franchisee's commencement of business operations for a minimum of forty hours.
This means that Devon Creek has the ultimate authority to decide if a franchisee is ready to operate a franchise. If Devon Creek determines that the initial training program has not been completed to their satisfaction, they reserve the right to terminate the Franchise Agreement.
Most franchisors have similar clauses to ensure franchisees meet their standards before commencing business. Prospective franchisees should clarify the specific criteria Devon Creek uses to assess satisfactory completion of training and what steps can be taken if they do not initially meet the required standards.
