Does Devon Creek currently receive any revenue from suppliers based on required franchisee purchases?

Devon_Creek Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

We have received no revenue from required purchases by franchisees for the most recent fiscal year ending on December 31, 2023.

Currently, our affiliate Elite Brand Innovations, LLC which is owned fully by our principals, is the only approved supplier of uniforms for franchisees. Apart from the foregoing, there are no approved suppliers in which any of our officers owns an interest. Franchisor reserves the right to be an approved supplier or a required supplier in the future.

We do not receive any other revenue, rebates, discounts, or other material consideration from any other supplies based on your required purchases of products, supplies or equipment; however, we may do so in the future, and any rebates or discounts we receive may be kept by us in our sole discretion.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Devon Creek's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Devon Creek did not receive any revenue from required franchisee purchases for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023. However, an affiliate, Elite Brand Innovations, LLC, owned fully by Devon Creek's principals, is the only approved supplier of uniforms for franchisees. This means that while Devon Creek itself didn't receive direct revenue, its principals benefit from uniform sales. Devon Creek also states that it reserves the right to be an approved or required supplier in the future.

Devon Creek also states that it does not currently receive any other revenue, rebates, discounts, or other material consideration from any other suppliers based on franchisee's required purchases of products, supplies, or equipment. However, Devon Creek explicitly states that it may do so in the future and that any rebates or discounts received may be kept by Devon Creek at its sole discretion. This indicates a potential future revenue stream for Devon Creek that would be derived from franchisee purchases.

This arrangement is not uncommon in franchising, where franchisors often negotiate with suppliers and may receive benefits based on the volume of purchases made by franchisees. For a prospective Devon Creek franchisee, this means that the cost of goods and services could potentially increase if Devon Creek begins receiving revenue from suppliers, although this is not guaranteed. It also highlights the importance of understanding the relationship between Devon Creek and its approved suppliers, particularly Elite Brand Innovations, LLC, as this could impact the overall cost of operating the franchise.
