What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to Desi District's System Standards when constructing or remodeling their location. This includes finishing the location in conformity with these standards. Franchisees may be required to engage a licensed architect in the jurisdiction of the location if Desi District requires it. Franchisees must obtain Desi District's approval of their plans before starting any construction or remodeling work. Desi District has the option, but not the obligation, to inspect the construction or remodeling progress at any reasonable time. Franchisees are not to rely on information or opinions from Desi District regarding architectural, engineering, or legal matters during development and construction, and Desi District assumes no liability in these areas.

In addition to general compliance with System Standards, Desi District may require franchisees to undertake and complete a remodel of the location to Desi District's satisfaction. Franchisees must complete any required remodel within the timeframe specified by Desi District. Desi District may also require franchisees to submit plans for approval before starting a remodel.

These stipulations mean that a Desi District franchisee will have to invest time and resources into ensuring their location meets the franchisor's standards, both during initial construction and any subsequent remodels. This can involve additional costs for architectural services and potential delays if plans require revisions. Franchisees should be prepared to factor in these requirements when budgeting for their initial investment and ongoing maintenance.
