What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must obtain approval from Desi District Franchise Group for all marketing, advertising, and public relations activities. This includes in-store marketing materials, websites, online advertising, social media marketing, and sponsorships. Desi District Franchise Group has the option to manage all social media accounts for the system or allow franchisees to operate their own accounts, but franchisees must adhere to any System Standards related to marketing, advertising, and public relations, including any social media policies. Franchisees are also required to implement any marketing plans or campaigns determined by Desi District Franchise Group. Desi District also manages the brand and will approve all marketing materials and marketing incorporating the Desi District brand.
This requirement ensures that all marketing efforts align with the brand's overall strategy and maintain a consistent image. It also allows Desi District to control the quality and content of marketing materials, protecting the brand's reputation. However, it also means that franchisees have limited autonomy in their marketing efforts and must adhere to the franchisor's guidelines.
Furthermore, Desi District Franchise Group has the right to use any marketing materials or campaigns developed by or on behalf of the franchisee, granting them an unlimited, perpetual, royalty-free license for such use. This allows Desi District to leverage successful marketing initiatives from individual franchisees across the entire system. Franchisees are also required to spend up to 2% of gross sales each month on marketing the business and must provide proof of compliance upon request. This ensures that franchisees are actively promoting their business, although the specific marketing strategies must still be approved by Desi District.
