What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the 'Opening the Location' training program is held either in Frisco, TX, or at the franchisee's location. This applies to multiple training subjects, including 'Getting Started with Desi District Culture, History, and Basic Setup', 'Operations Basics', 'Pricing', 'Front of House Operations', 'Back of House Operations', 'FAQ's', 'Client Satisfaction', 'Closing the Location', 'Deep Clean and Maintenance', 'Equipment Maintenance', 'Weekly Duties', 'Other Procedure Reviews', 'Miscellaneous' and 'Onboarding Graduation'.
For a prospective Desi District franchisee, this means that they may need to travel to Frisco, TX for the training or have the training conducted at their own location. The FDD specifies that training classes will be scheduled based on the needs of new franchisees and may be conducted remotely, at a corporate location, or at the franchisee's location once the build-out is sufficiently complete and close to opening.
Desi District also states that the franchisee must attend training and may send additional people to training, up to a maximum number. The franchisee must complete the training to Desi District's satisfaction at least four weeks before opening their business. A test is required to evaluate the understanding of the content covered in the training program, and failure to pass the test or complete the initial training may result in the termination of the franchise agreement with no refund of the initial franchise fee.
Franchisees should also be aware that they are responsible for the travel and living expenses of their employees or managers attending training. The business must be under the on-site supervision of the franchisee or a general manager who has completed the training program. If a new general manager needs to attend the training program, Desi District will charge a fee, which is currently $350 per day.
