What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training program includes both classroom and on-the-job training. The classroom training covers topics such as Desi District culture, operations basics, pricing, front and back of house operations, FAQs, and client satisfaction. The total hours for classroom training are 3 + 3 + 1 + 12 + 12 + 3 + 2 = 36 hours. The on-the-job training includes operations basics, front of house operations, and back of house operations. The total hours for on-the-job training are 2 + 12 + 12 = 26 hours.
In total, the Desi District initial training program consists of 36 hours of classroom training and 26 hours of on-the-job training. This training takes place in Frisco, TX, or at the franchisee's location. The FDD does not specify the number of days this training encompasses.
The franchisee must attend training, and up to 3 people can attend without incurring a training fee. However, the franchisee is responsible for covering the travel and living expenses for their employees or managers attending the training. The franchisee must complete the training to Desi District's satisfaction at least four weeks before opening their business and pass a test evaluating their understanding of the training content. Failing the test or not completing the initial training can result in the termination of the franchise agreement without a refund of the initial franchise fee.
If a new general manager needs to attend the training program, Desi District charges a fee of $350 per day. While additional training programs or refresher courses are not currently required, Desi District retains the right to implement them in the future.
