What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee can renew their franchise agreement for up to three additional terms, each lasting 5 years. This means that after the initial 10-year term, a franchisee could potentially operate their Desi District franchise for an additional 15 years through renewals. However, these renewals are not automatic and are subject to certain conditions.

To renew, the Desi District franchisee must notify Desi District Franchise Group of their intent to renew between 90 and 180 days before the end of the current term. They must also be in full compliance with the existing franchise agreement and any other agreements with Desi District Franchise Group or its affiliates, both at the time they elect to renew and at the time of the actual renewal. This includes maintaining good financial standing and adhering to all operational standards.

Furthermore, Desi District may require franchisees to renovate or remodel their business to meet the then-current system standards as a condition of renewal. The franchisee will also need to execute Desi District's then-current standard franchise agreement, which may contain materially different terms, including potentially higher fees. Finally, the franchisee and each owner must sign a general release of claims against Desi District and its affiliates. These conditions ensure that franchisees remain committed to the brand standards and resolve any potential disputes before continuing their franchise operation.
