What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to upgrade, update, or replace any software as required by Desi District Franchise Group. Franchisees must also enter into any subscription and support agreements that Desi District may require. Franchisees are responsible for protecting the confidentiality and security of all software systems and must adhere to all System Standards related to the software.
This requirement means that a Desi District franchisee must stay current with the software versions and systems that the franchisor mandates. This could involve costs for purchasing new software, paying for upgrades, and potentially incurring downtime during the update or replacement process. The franchisee must budget for these potential expenses and ensure they have the technical expertise to manage the software or hire someone who does.
Furthermore, Desi District has unlimited access to the franchisee's point of sale system and other software systems used in the business, by any means designated by Desi District. This access allows Desi District to monitor sales data, customer information, and other operational aspects of the franchise. Franchisees should be aware of this access and ensure their systems are secure and compliant with data privacy regulations.
Overall, these stipulations regarding software are typical in franchising, as franchisors need to maintain consistency and control over their brand's technology infrastructure. Prospective Desi District franchisees should carefully consider the potential costs and operational requirements associated with these software obligations.
