What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase or lease all necessary equipment and establish all business relationships needed to accept payments as mandated by Desi District. This includes accepting payments in any form or manner that Desi District designates, such as cash, specific credit and/or debit cards, gift cards, electronic fund transfer systems, and mobile payment systems.
This requirement means that a prospective Desi District franchisee must be prepared to invest in or lease point-of-sale systems and other hardware/software to accommodate the payment methods that Desi District requires. The franchisee also needs to establish relationships with payment processors to handle these transactions.
Furthermore, the Desi District franchisee must comply with payment card industry data security standards (PCI-DSS) at all times. This implies an ongoing responsibility to maintain secure payment systems and protect customer data, which may involve additional costs for security measures and compliance audits.
