What This Means (2024 FDD)
The 2024 Desi District Franchise Disclosure Document does not explicitly state that franchisees must pay vendors and suppliers in a timely manner. However, the document does state that Desi District may negotiate prices and terms with vendors on behalf of the System. Desi District may also collect payments from the franchisee on behalf of a vendor and remit the payments to the vendor, and impose a reasonable markup or charge for administering the payment program. Desi District may implement a centralized purchasing system or establish a purchasing cooperative that the franchisee is required to join.
While the FDD does not directly address timely payments to vendors by the franchisee, it outlines Desi District's ability to manage purchasing and payments to vendors. This suggests that Desi District has some control over the payment process, even if the franchisee is ultimately responsible for the payments.
A prospective franchisee should inquire with Desi District about their specific expectations and policies regarding payments to vendors and suppliers. Understanding the franchisor's expectations and any potential payment programs or systems in place is crucial for managing vendor relationships and maintaining a healthy financial standing.
