What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Desi District Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to disclose any innovations related to the business to Desi District Franchise Group. These innovations include any ideas, plans, improvements, concepts, methods, and techniques conceived or developed by the franchisee, their employees, agents, or contractors.
This requirement means that if a franchisee develops a new way to improve operations, a new menu item, or any other business-related innovation, they must inform Desi District. The franchisor then automatically owns these innovations and has the right to incorporate them into the Desi District system without providing any compensation to the franchisee.
This clause ensures that Desi District can maintain consistency and improve its system based on the collective knowledge and efforts of its franchisees. However, it also means that franchisees will not receive direct financial benefit for their innovative contributions, as Desi District retains full ownership and usage rights. Franchisees are also obligated to execute any documents reasonably requested by Desi District to confirm the franchisor's ownership of these innovations.
