What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Desi District Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must accept payments from customers in any form or manner designated by Desi District. This includes, but is not limited to, cash, specific credit and/or debit cards, gift cards, electronic fund transfer systems, and mobile payment systems.
This requirement means that a prospective Desi District franchisee needs to be prepared to invest in the necessary equipment and business relationships to accommodate all payment methods that Desi District mandates. This could involve purchasing or leasing point-of-sale systems, card readers, and other hardware, as well as establishing accounts with various payment processors. Franchisees must also comply with payment card industry data security standards (PCI-DSS) to protect customer data.
The franchisee must also sell or issue gift cards, certificates, or other pre-paid systems, and participate in any customer loyalty programs, membership/subscription programs, or customer incentive programs, designated by Desi District. The franchisee must honor all valid gift cards and other pre-paid systems, regardless of whether issued by the franchisee or another Desi District business. This ensures consistency across the Desi District brand and enhances customer experience.
Overall, these stipulations provide Desi District with significant control over the customer payment experience and loyalty programs. While this can help ensure brand consistency and customer satisfaction, it also places the onus on the franchisee to adapt to Desi District's preferred payment systems and potentially incur additional costs for equipment, software, and transaction fees.
