What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, each Market Cooperative is exclusively dedicated to managing regional advertising and marketing initiatives. This includes the development of standardized promotional materials, which are subject to Desi District Franchise Group's approval, for use by members in local advertising and promotion. This means that Desi District franchisees will participate in a cooperative that focuses on regional marketing efforts to boost brand awareness and sales within their specific area.
Desi District Franchise Group retains significant control over these cooperatives. The franchisor has the authority to approve all advertising and promotional plans and materials before they are used by the Market Cooperative or distributed to its members. Additionally, Desi District Franchise Group can designate the national or regional advertising agencies that the Market Cooperative uses. This oversight ensures that all marketing efforts align with the overall brand strategy and standards set by Desi District.
Franchisees should be aware that membership in a Market Cooperative is typically required if one exists for their geographic area. The funds for these cooperatives are determined by a majority vote of the members, with dues ranging from 1% to 5% of gross sales. Desi District Franchise Group also has the power to enforce the obligations of franchisees to contribute to the Market Cooperative and can terminate any Market Cooperative. Any remaining funds upon termination are returned to the franchisees based on their contributions. Franchisees are also required to spend up to 2% of gross sales each month on marketing the Business, and contributions to a Market Cooperative may count toward this requirement at the franchisor's discretion.
