What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Desi District Franchise Disclosure Document, Desi District does not currently have an advertising council composed of franchisees. The franchise agreement also does not grant Desi District the power to form such a council. This means franchisees do not have a formal, collective voice in shaping the brand's advertising strategies at a national level.
However, Desi District retains the right to require franchisees to participate in local or regional advertising cooperatives. The amount each franchisee contributes to the cooperative will be determined by a vote of the members, but it will not be less than 1% and not more than 5% of gross sales. Desi District will define the cooperative's area based on media markets or other geographic criteria. Each franchisee gets one vote per outlet, unless they are in default of their franchise agreement.
While Desi District does not have a franchisee advertising council, franchisees are required to spend up to 2% of gross sales each month on local marketing. Franchisees can use their own advertising materials, but they must be approved by Desi District at least 14 days before use. If Desi District does not respond within that timeframe, the material is considered rejected. Desi District also maintains the brand website, but has no other obligation to conduct advertising.
