What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Desi District's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Desi District Franchise Group has the right to negotiate prices and terms with vendors on behalf of the entire Desi District system. As part of these negotiations, Desi District Franchise Group may receive rebates, payments, or other forms of consideration from vendors based on the purchases made by franchisees. Desi District Franchise Group also has the option, but not the obligation, to collect payments from franchisees on behalf of a vendor and then remit those payments to the vendor. They can also impose a reasonable markup or charge for administering this payment program.
This arrangement means that Desi District franchisees may not always directly benefit from vendor rebates, as these can be collected by Desi District Franchise Group. However, Desi District Franchise Group's ability to negotiate prices with vendors could lead to lower costs for franchisees. The FDD also states that Desi District Franchise Group may implement a centralized purchasing system or establish a purchasing cooperative, requiring franchisees to participate under terms and conditions set by Desi District Franchise Group.
It is important for prospective franchisees to understand how these rebates and potential markups are managed, as they could affect the overall cost of goods and supplies. Franchisees should inquire about the specifics of any centralized purchasing system or purchasing cooperative, including how the terms and conditions are determined and whether they have any input into the process. Understanding these aspects can help franchisees assess the financial implications of vendor relationships within the Desi District franchise system.
