ITEM 8. RESTRICTIONS ON SOURCES OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
General
To ensure that the highest degree of quality and service is maintained, you must operate the Franchised Business in strict conformity with the mandatory and suggested specifications, standards, operating procedures and rules as we may periodically prescribe in the Manuals or otherwise in writing (the "System Standards"). We periodically may modify System Standards, and you must implement any changes in System Standards within the time period we request, whether they involve refurbishing, remodeling, or upgrading the Premises or any other aspect of the Franchised Business, including, without limitation, any change in furniture, fixtures, décor, the computer system, or equipment.
At all times during the term of the Franchise Agreement, you must:
- maintain all of the fixtures, furnishings, equipment, decor, and signs that we prescribe from time to time in accordance with our System Standards;
- manage the PC so that it offers only those services and products that we require to be offered at the dermani MEDSPA® or for which we have given our written approval;

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Dermani Medspa's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere strictly to the System Standards, which include mandatory and suggested specifications, standards, operating procedures, and rules outlined in the manuals or in writing. Dermani Medspa may modify these standards periodically, and franchisees are obligated to implement any changes within the specified timeframe. These changes can encompass various aspects of the franchised business, such as refurbishing, remodeling, upgrading the premises, or altering furniture, fixtures, décor, computer systems, or equipment.
However, a Dermani Medspa franchisee can deviate from the System Standards if they obtain prior written consent from Dermani Medspa. This requirement ensures that any deviations are approved by the franchisor, maintaining consistency and quality across the franchise system. Without this written consent, franchisees are expected to fully comply with all established System Standards.
Additionally, the FDD specifies an exception related to medical services. The selection and use of equipment and products for medical services provided by the PC (presumably the franchisee's professional corporation) are subject to the PC's approval based on the professional opinion of its physicians. This indicates that while franchisees generally need written consent to deviate from System Standards, medical decisions are ultimately guided by the professional judgment of the physicians within the franchisee's practice.
