What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Dermani Medspa's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Dermani Medspa is not obligated to reimburse franchisees for expenses incurred if they are required to modify or discontinue the use of copyrighted materials. This includes situations where Dermani Medspa requires franchisees to change or stop using materials related to the dermani MEDSPA® trade dress and custom interiors, manuals, or advertising and promotional materials. This policy is in place even though Dermani Medspa claims copyright protection over these various materials.
This lack of reimbursement could pose a financial risk to franchisees. If Dermani Medspa decides to change its marketing materials or operational procedures, franchisees will bear the costs of updating their businesses to comply. These costs could include reprinting marketing materials, refurnishing the medspa, or retraining staff. Franchisees should factor in these potential expenses when evaluating the overall cost of investing in a Dermani Medspa franchise.
Typically, franchise agreements address intellectual property and branding standards, but the financial responsibility for changes varies. Some franchisors may offer partial reimbursement or assistance with updates, while others, like Dermani Medspa, place the full financial burden on the franchisee. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider this aspect and inquire about the frequency and potential costs associated with such changes during their due diligence.
