What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Del Taco's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Del Taco is not responsible for ensuring that the architectural plans and specifications for the restaurant location contain requirements of any federal, state, or local law, code, or regulation. This includes compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or similar rules governing public accommodations. Del Taco also is not responsible for ensuring that the plans contain the requirements of, or be used for, construction drawings or other documentation necessary to obtain permits or authorization to build a specific Del Taco Restaurant.

This means that while Del Taco provides standard construction packages, franchisees are solely responsible for adapting these specifications to their specific location and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This includes obtaining all necessary permits and certifications required for the lawful construction and operation of the restaurant. The franchisee bears the expense of these adaptations and compliance measures.

For a prospective Del Taco franchisee, this highlights the importance of due diligence in site selection and understanding local regulations. Franchisees should engage qualified professionals to ensure their restaurant design and construction meet all legal requirements. Failure to comply with these regulations could result in delays, fines, or the inability to open the restaurant.
