What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Del Taco's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is primarily prohibited from using the restaurant premises for any purpose other than operating the Del Taco restaurant. Specifically, the franchisee must keep the restaurant open during the hours and days that Del Taco specifies in its manuals or approves in writing. The franchisee must also refrain from using or permitting the use of the restaurant premises for any other purpose or activity at any time. The term 'premises' includes the grounds surrounding the restaurant.

Additionally, Del Taco franchisees are not allowed to install or permit the installation of any vending machine, game, or coin-operated device unless Del Taco specifically approves it in writing in advance. This restriction ensures that the restaurant maintains its intended atmosphere and offerings, preventing unauthorized additions that could detract from the brand or customer experience.

These restrictions are typical in franchising, as they allow Del Taco to maintain brand consistency and control over the customer experience. By limiting the use of the premises and prohibiting unauthorized devices, Del Taco aims to ensure that each location aligns with the company's standards and operational guidelines. This helps protect the brand's reputation and ensures a consistent experience for customers across all franchise locations.
