Prior to opening a Del Taco restaurant, the Franchise Management Training Program (FMTP) is offered to qualify the franchisee, their Operating Principal, and the Restaurant's managers to operate the Restaurant according to Del Taco's standards and procedures. This includes pre-opening training where the franchisee, Operating Principal, one Restaurant Manager, and at least 5 additional shift managers spend 240 hours learning the proper preparation and presentation of food products and receiving certification. The Restaurant Manager must have a minimum of one year of quick service restaurant management experience to be certified.
Del Taco also provides ongoing training and support after the restaurant opens. They monitor the level of training and assist in maintaining proper training of management and crew.
