What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Degree Wellness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, prior to the opening of a Degree Wellness Studio, Degree Wellness or its designee is required to designate the franchisee's protected territory. The franchisee is only permitted to operate a studio physically located within this designated protected territory. Further details regarding the protected territory are available in Item 12 of the FDD.
This designation of a protected territory is a common practice in franchising, intended to provide franchisees with a degree of market exclusivity. This exclusivity aims to prevent direct competition from other franchisees of the same brand, thereby enhancing the potential profitability of each individual Degree Wellness studio. The franchisee should carefully review Item 12 to fully understand the terms and conditions of the protected territory, including its size, boundaries, and any potential exceptions or limitations.
Understanding the specifics of the protected territory is crucial for a prospective franchisee. It directly impacts the franchisee's ability to attract and retain customers, as well as their overall business strategy. The franchisee should also inquire about the criteria used to determine the size and location of the protected territory, and how Degree Wellness ensures that the territory remains viable throughout the term of the franchise agreement.
