What is a 'Site Selection Area' for a Degree Wellness franchise, and when is it granted?

ise Agreement, you and we will mutually agree on your Protected Territory's boundaries when you sign the Franchise Agreement. If you have not identified an approved location prior to entering into the Franchise Agreement, you will be granted a non-exclusive site selection area from within which you must locate your Studio (the "Site Selection Area"). You will have no territorial rights to the Site Selection Area.
You may operate your Studio (including, if permitted under the Franchise Agreement, our optional programs) only at an approved site that is physically located in your Protected Territory, but may offer services or products in your Protected Territory from outside your approved location (you must obtain our prior written consent to offer products and services from outside your Protected Territory). You may not relocate your Studio to a different site in your Protected Territory without our approval.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Degree Wellness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a Site Selection Area is a non-exclusive area granted to a franchisee from which they must locate their studio. This is applicable if an approved location for the studio does not exist when the Franchise Agreement is signed. The franchisee does not have territorial rights to this Site Selection Area.
Degree Wellness typically identifies the initial Site Selection Area early in the franchise process, during due diligence and the offer process. This area is based on the franchisee's preferred operating location, and the agreed-upon geographic description is included in the Development Agreement before signing. The size of the Site Selection Area can vary depending on the demographics of the region the developer wishes to develop.
Site Selection Areas are exclusive, meaning that Degree Wellness will not allow other franchisees to operate within the area as long as the franchisee is compliant with the Development Agreement. However, the Site Selection Area may not be modified during the term of the Development Agreement unless both parties mutually agree in writing.
