What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Degree Wellness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to acquire their computer systems, including hardware and software, from specific sources. Specifically, franchisees must purchase or lease all computer system hardware and software from Degree Wellness's approved third-party suppliers. This includes suppliers that provide gift card, customer loyalty program, and online ordering services.
This requirement ensures that all Degree Wellness franchises use compatible and approved systems for point of sale, accounting, and other essential functions. The FDD specifies that the approved hardware includes items like iPads, monitors, touchscreens, multi-function printers, cash drawers, screens, credit card swipers, TVs, headphones, and related accessories. By mandating the use of approved suppliers, Degree Wellness aims to maintain consistency and integration across all franchise locations, which can streamline operations and support services.
The initial investment table in Item 7 lists the estimated cost for the Point of Sale System, Hardware, Software, and Installation as ranging from $3,850 to $4,250. This cost is paid to the Approved Supplier as incurred. This investment is a necessary part of starting the franchise and ensures that the franchisee has the required technology from the outset.
It is important for prospective franchisees to understand that they do not have the flexibility to choose their own vendors for these critical systems. While this may limit options, it also provides the benefit of pre-approved and supported technology solutions, potentially reducing the risk of compatibility issues or operational disruptions. Franchisees should confirm the list of approved suppliers and understand the terms and conditions of any lease or purchase agreements with those suppliers.
